From crispy-crunchy to tangy barbecue, these variations on wings will make you cheer on game day.

According to the National Chicken Council‘s Chicken Wing Report, Americans are expected to consume something in the neighborhood of 1.4 billion chicken wings during the upcoming Super Bowl. To put that into perspective, every player in the NFL would have to consume 825,000 wings each to reach 1.4 billion. If you laid them end-to-end, they’d stretch from Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium all the way to…we have no idea. Wings are too precious (and delicious) to ever purposely throw on the ground. All juicy skin and tender dark meat, chicken wings are the perfect vehicle for just about any sauce you can imagine.

In addition to their role as a classic game-day delicacy, wings are one of the most versatile snacks around. From tequila-marinated to curry paste-smothered, there are almost infinite ways to enjoy the humble chicken wing. Try one of these eight recipes that go beyond traditional Buffalo sauce for Super Bowl Party excellence. (I mean, we love a good Buffalo wing as much as anyone, but here in the West, cayenne is not the only spice!)

The recipes here reference various corners of the world, from sesame-studded pan-Asian Honey-Sesame Grilled Chicken Wings to Margarita Chicken Wings, marinated in honest-to-god tequila, triple sec, and lime. Sample wings flavored with tamarindagrodolce, or Thai spices. Then sit back on your couch and enjoy that most American of rituals: Eating way too many tasty, savory chicken wings while watching funny commercials cheering on the two teams vying to bring home the Lombardi trophy.
