Apple of My Iced Tea

Lucy Leahy, from Oakland, makes this recipe with easy-to-grow anise hyssop, which has a minty licorice flavor. If you don't have any on hand, you can use regular mint leaves, and it will be just as refreshing.
How to Make It
Step 1
1
Put sugar and 1 cup water in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave until very warm, then stir to dissolve sugar. Add anise hyssop, cover bowl, and set aside about 1 hour. Strain syrup.
Step 2
2
Fill 2 glasses with ice and add 2 tbsp. syrup to each. Pour in cider and tea. Garnish each with an apple wedge. Chill remaining syrup to use another time.
