A descent into the basement digs of Totokaelo Man feels a bit like entering a life-size terrarium. But rather than exotic ferns, this luminescent space showcases another curious Northwest species: the highly fashionable man. Under a grid of humming fluorescent tubes, stylish fellows are treated to a cast of designers exclusive (in Seattle) to the Capitol Hill shop—Alexandre Plokhov and Assembly New York, for example, alongside design gods Yohji Yamamoto and Maison Martin Margiela. Prices are not for the weak-hearted ($600 jeans?), but the resulting silhouette does make for style worth ogling.
