Sunset News, Located on Terminal B Concourse, Opens to the Public July 15th

Menlo Park, Calif. – Sunset magazine (, the premier guide to life in the West, has teamed up with HMSHost, a world leader in creating shopping and dining in travel venues, to open Sunset News, an exclusive branded newsstand in the Mineta San Jose International Airport. This exclusive newsstand will open to the public on July 15th. It will be located on the Terminal B Concourse, opposite Gate 20 in one of the highest traffic areas of the main airport serving the San Francisco Bay Area’s Silicon Valley.

Featuring finishes that reflect the Western palate and surroundings, including artisanal tiles in earthy browns and fresh greens, the 1290-square foot Sunset News will offer a broad selection of magazine titles, a range of newspapers from local to international, an assortment of books from popular titles to current best sellers, local and regional maps and guidebooks and convenience items such as candy, bottled beverages, film, health and beauty items in travel-sized packaging and travel accessories from Brookstone. The offering of Brookstone items within the Sunset News store is made possible through an exclusive arrangement between HMSHost and these two popular brands.

“As the ultimate resource for Western living, we’re excited for the Sunset brand to welcome travelers to this dynamic city ― the tenth largest in the nation,” said Katie Tamony, Sunset editor in chief. “Partnering with HMSHost to operate this store affords us a great opportunity to potentially reach 9.7 million passengers per year. We look forward to welcoming millions of travelers to the West and introducing them to the Sunset brand.”

In addition to this newsstand, Sunset looks forward to announcing a number of additional relationships with licensees to create branded products for home and garden.

“The addition of the Sunset brand to our line-up of retail stores at Mineta San Jose International Airport brings an immensely popular regional name and quality newsstand selection to SJC’s travelers,” said Joan Ryzner, senior vice president, HMSHost Retail.  “Sunset magazine has worked hand in hand with HMSHost to develop this unique retail offering for the airport setting and we know travelers will enjoy the Sunset experience.”
