Like the well-loved Melrose Market by the same development group, Dunn & Hobbes, Chophouse Row is a collection of businesses under one roof but with individual storefronts. You can grab a pineapple-lime-and-greens juice at Chop Shop Juice & Provisions while waiting for a lunchtime seat at Chop Shop Cafe & Bar, the new venture from chef Ericka Burke. If you’ve eaten at her Volunteer Park Cafe, you’ll know what to expect: melon gazpacho with kaffir lime panna cotta, say, or grilled octopus with pickled leeks and squid-ink aioli, or pork shoulder with napa cabbage, sweet corn, almond, and cilantro brodo. At dinnertime, pair small-batch wines recommended by Upper Bar Ferd’nand’s sommelier Marc Papineau with the wine bar’s menu of grilled meats and flatbreads featuring vegetables from chef Matthew Dillon’s Vashon Island farm. Finish the day at Amandine, the creation of Sara Naftaly (she brought us Le Gourmand and Sambar), a micro-bakery focused on macarons and viennoiseries and light-roast coffees from Empire Espresso.
