A former shipping container becomes a 190-square foot home that sleeps four and invites the outdoors in

I believe we’ve tried it all out here—as far as living quarters. Tent cabin. Check. Airstream trailer. Check. Tree house. Check. Retired shipping container (with half a million nautical miles clocked). Check. At last year’s Sunset Celebration Weekend thousands of visitors toured this shipping-container-turned-home, which arrived at our headquarters via flatbed truck. (That’s our office building to the right and left, a scene that is normally an asphalt parking lot.)

At just 190 square feet, the unit (a vacation home for that acreage you dream of building on someday?) sleeps four, has a full bathroom, mini kitchen, and a surprising amount of storage.

Sound like a tight fit? You’ll be surprised. The double doors on three sides of the cube encourage the motto of all of our creative home ideas: live outdoors.
