Lego Makes Succulents, Orchids, and Bonsai Trees—You Won’t Believe How Beautiful They Look

They make the perfect gift.

Sarah Yang

You can already get Lego sets of the Millennium Falcon, Eiffel Tower, Titanic, and even Atari, so the iconic toy brand can’t possibly get more creative than that, right? Well, we just made a new discovery to add to the list—Lego’s Botanical Collection. While the collection isn’t exactly new (it launched in 2020), it’s new to us garden-loving Sunset editors. And that leaves us with the question, “Why didn’t we find out about this sooner?”

Nevertheless, we’re so excited about this discovery, which comes just in time for gifting season. If you can get your hands on one of these (some are on backorder), they make for a present that’s equally perfect for both the green thumb in your life and that person who can’t quite keep a plant alive. The collection features an orchid, succulents, flower bouquet, bonsai tree, sunflowers, roses, tulips, and bird of paradise—all of which you can construct, put on display, and never have to worry about watering schedules or light exposure.

And just like gardening is a form of self-care for some people, putting together these sets might also help you de-stress, too.  “As adults look for new ways to switch off and relax, we’re delighted to be able to help them seek solace from their busy everyday lives as they immerse themselves in creating these beautiful botanical builds,” Jamie Berard, Design Lead at the LEGO Group said in a press release when the products first launched. “The customizable elements and mindful building experience will hopefully help them express their personality as their creativity blossoms.” To add to the relaxation experience, Lego even curated a ASMR-inspired White Noise playlist on Spotify that you can play while building the botanical sets.

Orchids can be tough to care for, so if you’ve had bad luck with them in the past, you might want to consider getting this one since it will never die on you.

Lego Succulent

One of the cool things about this set is that you can change up its configuration since each “succulent” is in its own cube or box.
