Check Your Floroscope—Here’s the Perfect Flower for Every Astrology Sign

According to astrology, each sign of the Zodiac has its own flower—what's your flower sign?

Heather Arndt Anderson

Hey there, what’s your sign? I’m a Magnolia (with a Poppy rising and an Orchid moon, to be specific). If I just lost you there, that’s okay—let me explain: Just as every astrological sign has its own planet and power stones, there are specific flowers associated with every sign, too. Want to know your flower horoscope floroscope? Let’s consult the Zodiac and let astrology flower power be your garden guide.

Please note that astrology is for entertainment purposes only, and you should feel free to get any flowers you like.

Aries

Aries, the Ram—the ultimate symbol of taking things head-on—has no chill, and its flowers are a testament to that. Honeysuckle is a symbol of passionate love, and tiger lily represents confidence and pride. Honeysuckle and this fiery-orange tiger lily even have recurved petals, reminiscent of ram’s horns.

Taurus

Taurus has an affinity for pretty much all plant life, but rose and poppy are particularly associated with the sign of the Bull. A yellow rose could symbolize Taurus’ tendency toward possessiveness and jealousy, but this frilly, delicate Iceland poppy can likewise represent the Bull’s tender, sensitive side.

Gemini

The astrology flower power of Gemini comes from teeny blooms on slender stalks, but the two flowers—lily-of-the-valley (pure love) and lavender (distrust)—are at opposition with each other. Typical Twins!

Cancer

Water lily and magnolia—creamy white and open—are the flowers of Cancer (water lilies are especially resonant with this water sign). They’re both fragrant at night, too, when Crabs are worshipping the moon.

Leo

Sunflowers are the obvious choice for sun-loving Leo, but any sunshine-shaped blooms in shades of orange and gold are suitable for the Lion, like gerbera daisy, marigold, and zinnia.

Virgo

All of the flowers that represent the Virgin are associated with love and affection. Besides chrysanthemum (especially in shades of tan and beige), blue morning glories and asters will win over even the most analytical Virgo.

Libra

Libra’s flowers, rose and narcissus, don’t have much to do with balancing the Scales, but they do have meanings that may resonate with the sign. Rose is a flower of passionate love and beauty, while narcissus represents inspiration (and the flower’s namesake—vanity).

Scorpio

The slender rays on this spider mum are almost reminiscent of the Scorpion’s tail. A purple chrysanthemum is the symbol of loyalty (which Scorpio demands), while the golden mum is a symbol of slighted love. Rhododendron symbolizes sending a warning (pity the subject of a Scorpio’s jealousy!). I suggest you avoid the astrology flower drama and go with geranium (true friendship).

Sagittarius

Peonies and carnations (both symbols of abundance) are classic Sagittarian flowers, but the Archer also resonates with hydrangea (a symbol of sincerity). Sag’s color is turquoise—add coffee grounds to the soil to achieve that bright aqua-blue bloom on a hydrangea.

Capricorn

Pansy and lotus are both Capricorn’s astrology flower power symbols, especially in shades of purple and brown. These puce ‘Velour Frosted Chocolate’ pansies (a symbol of deep thought) were practically made for the Goat.

Aquarius

Aquarius flowers are the orchid (representing refined uniqueness) and gladiolus (a symbol of remembrance and strong character). Speaking of uniqueness, it’s rare to find these flowers in Aquarian shades of blue, but Gladiolus ‘Mante’ makes a lovely addition to borders, while periwinkle-blue vanda orchids (Vanda coerulea) can be grown indoors. The lady-slipper orchid pictured above looks like the Water Bearer’s urn.

Pisces

Sea green and pale aquamarine are the colors that carry Pisces off to watery bliss, and the flowers of the Fish are water lily (a flower of rebirth), violet (like this sky-blue dappled specimen; a symbol of loyalty and devotion), and orchid (fertility).
