It’s not often that famed Franklin Barbecue pitmaster Aaron Franklin takes his show on the road. Luckily for the Bay Area, he’s bringing his Hot Luck food festival to Oakland for its very first Hot Luck Road Trip, partnering with 4505 Burgers & BBQ’s Ryan Farr to host a masterfully meaty event.

The one-day food festival is an abbreviated version of the multi-day barbecue celebration that takes place in Austin, known to bring a variety of chefs, pitmasters, musicians, and celebrities together. This one-day extension of the festival will take place at 4505’s Oakland restaurant (3506 MacArthur Blvd.), featuring Rodney Scott of Scott’s BBQ, too. That means there’ll be a potent combination of Franklin’s tender Texas brisket, Scott’s whole-hog South Carolina barbecue, and all of 4505’s signatures like ribs,  smoked chicken, hot sausage, and more, all in one place.

Joining that trio will be a talented group of East Bay chefs, including Reem Assil (Reem’s Caliofrnia), Ravi Kapur (Liholiho Yacht Club), and Chris Kronner (Henry’s, Kronnerburger), who’ll contribute special bites for the event. Oakland breweries will be on hand with craft beer, a natural pairing for sunshine and meat on 4505’s expansive patio.

The event will take place on October 13, 2019. Tickets are $65 per person, available here
