Goose Island Beer Co. is a craft brewery based in Chicago. I should say, it used to be a craft brewery. In 2011, it sold 58% of the company to Anheuser-Busch for a cool $38.8 million. Which, if you’re a pint-fisted craft purist, is like being kicked in the belly by a team of Budweiser Clydesdales.

Still, I’ve had their beers and they’re good. (The Bourbon County stout is consistently rated one of the best brews in the world.) So when I heard that Goose Island was giving away an all-expenses-paid trip for two to its hop farm, my ears perked up. Especially when I leaned that the hop farm was located outside of Bonner’s Ferry, Idaho, at the tippity-top of the panhandle, 10 miles from the Canadian border.

Elk Mountain Farms is the largest contiguous hop farm in the world. To be there during harvest, when 1,800 acres of hops are picked and dried in round-the-clock shifts, is a beer geek fantasy reel come to life. Details of the giveaway are slim, but judging from this video I’m going to guess that the trip will include lots hops, lots of hoppy beer, and at least two very happy people. Good luck.
