Sunset’s Fresh Food Challenge 2014, January 6-10

After months of holiday treats, meals, and drinks, we’re ready to hit reset and eat a little better—without denying ourselves real food! Starting Monday, January 6th, join our editors for five days of eating nothing but the West’s fresh, nutritious foods—lots of citrus, greens, almonds, and, for the ambitious, no processed sugar, booze or (gulp) caffeine.

It’s not a cleanse—and definitely not a diet—just gentle encouragement to eat as many whole foods (lean proteins, produce, whole grains, and healthy fats) from as many local sources as possible. To get you started, here’s a short list of our favorite recipes, with extras to mix and match, plus a grocery list for the core recipes. We recommend using this weekend to stock up and make a few batches of the suggested recipes, or pot of soup or rice that you can pull from during the busy work week.

Tune back in on Monday and follow along each day as our editors chronicle their vice-free week through videos and blog posts! And feel free to share recipes, struggles, and other resources on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram using #SunsetEatFresh.

Download the SunsetEatFresh_Plan with optional mix-and-match items.
