How to Style Your Thanksgiving Table

The finishing touch for your Thanksgiving feast needs might not be another pie—it might be one of these stylish and functional accessories.

Hugh Garvey

Your fresh turkey is ordered. Your guest list is set. The once-a-year china and silverware are out of storage. What’s missing from your Thanksgiving setup? Maybe one of these accessories.

It’s amazing what a difference one or two stylish accents can make. A few quality focal points anchor everything and transform your dining table from scrappy to classy instantly. It’s not always easy to host a holiday dinner, but making a small amount of extra effort on accessories will make your feast at least look effortless. And because the pieces we’ve suggested below are functional as well as stylish, they’ll actually lessen your workload a little, too.

Some of our favorites are splurgy, like the curvy amber glass vases from Terrain. Some are very affordable luxuries, like the floral Oaxacan candles from Kneeland. All of our recommendations, though, will have uses beyond November, as they’re all timelessly stylish and not a one has a turkey stenciled on it.

So go ahead and add that finishing touch to upgrade your décor. Pick a cheeseboard that isn’t a board at all—it’s agate, and it looks deliciously edible on its own. Make your stuffing in a classic Le Creuset baking dish that goes right on the table—it’s a working pan but it’s a sleek beauty you can serve out of. Or add a few nearly imperceptible but impeccable touches, like the perfect gravy boat, or an elegant lidded saltcellar. They’ll all work to make your Thanksgiving dinner one where everything on the table is memorable.
