
Eat Fresh, Day 2: Feel the Burn

This year, I’m determined to: Get back into an exercise routine and stick to my low-carb, sugar-free lifestyle.
I chose this because: After four months of eating very little sugar or carbohydrates, I’ve only lost a measly 6 pounds, and I’m pretty sure my lack of movement is to blame. I’m hoping that adding more exercise will kick-start my weight loss before my wedding, which is in six very short-seeming months!
My biggest obstacle: My long commute lops an average of 2 ½ hours off my personal time every weekday, so fitting in time for exercise will be a challenge.
My biggest temptation to cheat: NFL playoffs without beer?! Sacrilege.
Coping mechanism(s): Saving my remaining episodes of the Serial podcast for during workouts has me (almost) looking forward to hitting the gym.
I’m feelin’: Sore. Yesterday I downloaded the 7 Minute Workout Challenge app, thinking it would be a way to ease in but, wow, am I sore today.
A recipe I’m really digging: The Spanish-Style Chicken Salad from Sunset‘s January 2013 issue has punched up my boring salad-for-lunch routine.
