Drakes Bay Oyster Farm Closes Retail Operation After Today

Due to the National Park Service’s enforcement, Drakes Bay Oyster Farm is wistfully ending its on-farm retail operation, despite numerous appeals to the U.S. Supreme Court.

For over 80 years, the farm has been serving California’s shellfish production, and today’s 11 a.m. gathering—about an hour north of San Francisco—marks a sad day for many supporters. At the very least, the farm is allowed to continue harvesting for another month. Chances for this California farm to actually win its case against the Park Service is looking fairly grim, but its Twitter account is alive and kicking. And certainly ready to continue soldiering on.
