Airbnb Community
This winter and in many winters past, recreational travelers often choose between two options: snow and ski or sun and surf. The West’s wide range of biomes welcomes both types of travelers to the region during the colder months. The Airbnb Newsroom published their list of trending winter travel destinations along with some of the site’s most popular listings. If you’re looking for a wintry retreat in the West, take a look at the list below.
Hermosa Beach, California

Hermosa Beach is a great destination option, especially for those located in and around Los Angeles. While the Pacific is notoriously on the colder side—especially in the winter months—there is no shortage of gorgeous ocean views in the beach town. You can also find a number of other coastal attractions in Hermosa Beach, including the Hermosa Beach Pier, surfing, beach volleyball, and a growing arts scene. Airbnb lists this beach bungalow for up to six guests, perfect for a group trip to the beach city.
Brighton, Utah

Brighton is described by Airbnb as a “smaller ski town” with fewer crowds than some of the more popular destinations like Aspen or Snowmass. Located an hour’s drive from Park City and a 45-minute drive from Salt Lake City, Brighton is a fantastic spot for skiers, snowboarders, or people looking to enjoy winter in the mountains. If you’re looking for a place to stay for your next ski trip, Airbnb recommends this cabin that is just a short walk to the slopes.
McCall, Idaho

Another cozier and quieter option for ski and nature lovers is McCall, Idaho. The destination offers great skiing, hot springs, snowshoeing, and other winter activities. When you’re not enjoying the outdoors, McCall has quite a few great breweries, bars, and restaurants. This a-frame cabin in McCall is a perfect cozy getaway for up to two guests.
