Under Canvas officially opened its tenth safari-style glamping site—complete with nine stargazing suites—in the summer of 2022 just in time for that August’s annual Perseid meteor shower. That shower has long since passed, of course, but any clear night is a good night for stargazing in this remote part of Utah. (And, there’s always next year—the Perseids roll around every August.)

Bryce Canyon gained its Dark Sky status in 2019, protecting its exceptional nocturnal environment and preserving its lack of light pollution, meaning Under Canvas’ signature Stargazer Tent is ideal for viewing the Milky Way, meteors, and more stars than most city dwellers can imgine. It’s outfitted with its own viewing window above the king-sized bed, plus luxe linens, West Elm appliances, and bedside lanterns.

Located just 15 minutes outside Bryce Canyon National Park, Under Canvas’ ultra-luxe campground lies on the Grand Circle Tour, the region’s well-known route that also traverses Zion and Capitol Reef national parks, Moab, Monument Valley, the Grand Canyon, and several other breathtaking landmarks within Navajo Nation.

The 50-tent property is situated on 750 acres of high mountain plains dotted with juniper trees, with sweeping vistas of Mt. Dutton to the west and the Escalante Mountains just east.

Keeping the environment in mind, the Under Canvas team implemented pull-chain showers, low-flow toilets, solar energy support, and a towel reuse program. And for travelers who stayed up late watching the night sky and are just as prickly about camping coffee as we are, there’s Bluestone Lane brew on offer in the lobby tent daily, perfect for sipping around the common area’s campfire pits. There is also complimentary camp programming available like yoga, live acoustic music, lawn games, s’mores-making, fireside chats, movie nights, and more.
