Elena’s

Opened in February 2024, Elena’s is a full-service Mexican-American restaurant located in San Francisco’s West Portal neighborhood. Inspired by her two oldest daughters, Catherine and Julia, co-owner Elena Duggan pays homage to their Mexican roots and their father’s family. The concept celebrates everything Elena’s family has grown to love about authentic Mexican food coupled with California-inspired elements and signature Mexican-American dishes. The foundation of the menu draws inspiration from Catherine and Julia’s yearly summer trips to visit their extended family in San Bartolo Morelos, outside of Mexico City, where they learned from their Abuelita to appreciate the beauty of a freshly made tortilla and tamale. The extensive menu features traditional Mexican dishes coupled with classic Mexican-American favorites—from crudos, seafood tostadas, and shareable appetizers, to woodfired meats, enchiladas, and housemade tamales.
