Cargotecture, the ultimate in upcycling. Think shipping container + architecture + a lair for the uncommon. First it was homes like this, the Tim Palen Studio in Joshua Tree:

Now we’re even seeing cargotecture restaurants like Aprisa, a Mexican joint in Southeast Portland that’s opening a second location in Peoria, AZ:

And new camping structures, like the one under construction at Tolt MacDonald Park in Carnation, Washington (from the same firm that designed Sunset’s shipping container home). “The idea was to create a fully sustainable camping structure that the public can rent that’s pretty much indestructible,” says Ryan Dotson of King County Parks.
