Holiday Gift Giving with a Purpose—Protect Our Winters Collaborates to Fight Climate Change
Various clothing and gear collaborations will send a percentage of, if not all, proceeds to help POW in their fight to preserve public lands.
Wildlands is your source for the world of travel, outdoor adventure, conservation, and the stories of those who choose to live wild lives.
Protect Our Winters was founded in 2007 by big mountain snowboarder and environmentalist Jeremy Jones to bridge the gap in the snow sports community between the increasingly detrimental effects of climate change and the formal actions necessary to fight back.
Since its 2007 inception, POW has attracted numerous pro athletes, researchers, and brands to what has, in recent years, become a more de-politicized cause that grows more urgent by the day.
Now, this initiative is continuing through various clothing and gear collaborations that will send a percentage of, if not all, proceeds to help POW in their fight to preserve public lands.
There’s plenty of time left before Christmas to get that snazzy gift for the outdoorsy person in your life. Why not get one that will also help a great cause? Check out the gear list below that includes items from brands like POC, Burton, Giro, Smartwool, JuneShine and more.
Burton X Protect Our Winters T-Shirt
Snowboarding company Burton “has always been an enormous supporter of Protect Our Winters,” the POW release said. That collaboration has now produced this special edition Burton T-shirt, made from organic Peruvian cotton and crafted with a Goldilocks fit, that will provide a portion of each purchase directly to POW.
RP Roberts X Protect Our Winters T-Shirt
“RP Roberts is a talented artist who, in addition to crafting his own works, produces some of the eye-popping graphics that appear on the bases of Jones Snowboards,” the release said.
Roberts crafted this mountainous landscape design for this T-shirt that will send all proceeds to Protect Our Winters UK.
Hard kombucha aficionados JuneShine have, with the help of Jungmaven, produced a limited edition tee made of a hemp and organic cotton blend with the slogan, “It’s a Perfect Day to Give a Damn”.
This offer applies to California, Oregon, and Nevada residents only, with 100 percent of proceeds going to climate research.
Jeremy Jones X POC
Working alongside POW founder Jeremy Jones, Swedish snow sports and cycling giant POC has developed a special collab version of its Fovea Clarity goggles and Fornix SPIN helmet. Ten percent of proceeds go back to Protect Our Winters.
SMARTWOOL PhD® Ski Ultra Light POW Print Socks
These ultra light, durable Smartwool socks, which feature the POW logo, come decked out in a colorful mountainscape design that will be sure to ignite a conversation as you thaw off fireside after a full day of carving some fresh powder.
Giro X POW Collection
Cycling and snow sports apparel and gear company Giro has partnered with POW to launch goggles and a helmet perfect for “turning heads in the lift line” or “letting others know where you stand when you rip by them down the mountains.”
SkullCandy Indy™ Evo True Wireless Earbuds
SkullCandy’s wireless earbuds, which feature a 30-hour battery life and lightning quick recharge, are water and dust resistant, making them a stellar choice for your next adventurous outing.
