Dried hibiscus flowers (jamaica in Spanish) give this drink its gorgeous ruby glow and extra tang. Mixologist Maria Hunt created the recipe.

Hibiscus Mezcal Cocktail

 3 tbsp Hibiscus Syrup (depending on how sweet you like it)
 3 tbsp mezcal (preferably silver, such as Xicaru Silver)
 3 tbsp fresh lime juice
 1 lime or small orange, sliced thinly crosswise into wheels
 Tajín* (Mexican chile-lime seasoning; optional)

Put hibiscus syrup, mezcal, and lime juice in a shaker and top with ice. Shake; strain into a coupe glass.

Garnish with a lime wheel, sprinkled with Tajín if you like.
