Getting ready for paint

Spicing up the kitchen
Designer Brian Paquette chose a hot color—Benjamin Moore’s Peruvian Chili to complement the deep blue of the kitchen’s back wall.

Creating architecture
We are framing the spaces with box beams, a signature element of Cliff May, the architect of Sunset’s headquarters and best known for creating the California ranch style home. Patrick from Coldstream Construction is painting the beams a deep chocolate brown.

Inspiration for the beams
We took our inspiration for the architectural beams from Cliff May’s personal home, built in 1956 in Los Angeles.
