LG OLED TV R

R is for rollup—yes, a rollup TV. LG announced the first rollable OLED TV at CES, so the screen can disappear while you aren’t using it. Pair it with an Amazon Alexa or Siri to control the TV with your voice, and then activate it to play music or even mood-setters like a crackling fire. The design makes it a stylish piece that finally eliminates the big black box in one’s living room; it will come at a premium price revealed this spring.

Lenovo Smart Clock

Hello, adorable. While smart displays are popular in the kitchen, we’re also fans of adding them to your bedside table, and this Lenovo device is perfect for that. The Lenovo Smart Clock is designed to be your wake-up buddy with the help of Google Assistant, but the 4-inch device can also charge your devices, play music, and activate voice routines through Google. Customize it with a variety of clock faces, and upgrade your alarm from your cell phone to an attractive accessory.

KitchenAid Smart Display

If your cooking tends to get messy, this is the kitchen gadget for you. KitchenAid’s Smart Display takes Google Assistant and Yummly technology and packs it into a 10-inch, water-resistant body. While it can do the expected activities like guide you through recipes and help generate shopping lists, it can also get touched by dirty hands and then easily rinsed off afterwards. With so many smart displays on the market these days, that is a feature that makes KitchenAid’s model stand out.

Meural 3.0

Meural’s digital canvas was one of our favorite demos in our 2017 Smart Cottage, and since getting acquired by NETGEAR, the company is now thinking in new dimensions. Meural 3.0 will now come in two sizes—the original 27-inch, and now a 21.5-inch. According to the founder, Meural customers buy an average of two Meural frames, and often express interest in building their own gallery walls with them. Now, with choice of sizes, it’ll be easy to do that. Plus, the 3.0 models can also tell whether they’re placed in landscape or portrait, and can update in real-time for the perfect orientation. Pricing details are still to come, but the current 27-inch retails for $595.

Yale Assure Lever Lock

  • Assure Lever Lock, $149 - $299 MSRP; available spring 2019
Have a home without a deadbolt? No problem. August has partnered with its sister brand, Yale, to create the Assure Lever Lock for those looking to remotely lock their door handle. Worried about getting locked out when the batteries die and you can’t use a key? The two prongs on the bottom of the screen can be powered with the touch of a battery to allow entry. What’s more, the app will notify you months in advance to give your lock’s battery a charge.

KitchenAid Smart Oven+

KitchenAid’s not just making smart displays - they’re diving into full-on smart appliances. KitchenAid announced their CES Innovation Award-winning Smart Oven+ with Powered Attachments. The three attachments—a Powered Grill Attachment, Powered Steamer Attachment, and Powered Baking Stone Attachment—connect to the hub in the back of the oven to then pair with the Yummly technology in the oven itself. Users can then choose recipes and baking options, and control the oven itself with the KitchenAid app or with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

Amazon Key for Chamberlain

Amazon Key isn’t a literal key - it’s the name for their delivery service that drops off your package inside your home, your car, and now inside your garage. Chamberlain is known for its myQ smart garage door controllers, and its partnership with Amazon Key means those myQ users can connect their accounts to get deliveries dropped off inside their garage, instead of inside their home or the trunk of their car.The partnership will be available in 37 cities including Denver, L.A./Orange County, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and Eastside, WA.

Lutron Fan Speed Control

  • Lutron Fan Speed Control, $80; available in March 2019
If you’ve upgraded to smart switches for your lights, having that remaining “dumb” fan switch feels like a weak spot in the system. Lutron’s customers have been clamoring for a fan control switch for that very reason, and the company delivered at this year’s CES. Lutron’s Fan Speed Control replaces a fan’s switch in minutes, and through the Lutron app integrates your fan into the rest of your smart home, from adding it to routines to asking your smart assistant to turn the fan on and off. Plus, it comes with a pico remote ($42) that can control the fan from up to 30 feet away.
