9 Amazon Prime Perks You Might Not Know About

By now, most of us are Amazon Prime members, but there are quite a few benefits that deserve a little more hype. Most recently, Amazon rolled out a new offer to help you save up to 10 cents per gallon at the gas pump—but that only scratches the surface of what you’ll get as a Prime member, outside of heftier discounts on Prime Day and fast and free shipping and delivery. 

To simplify it all, we read the fine print and broke down the top perks to securing a Prime membership.

1. Grubhub+

There’s so much convenience guaranteed when you have your next meal delivered right to your door, but those additional fees really add up. However, Prime members can take advantage of unlimited free delivery and can save $120 per year with a free Grubhub+ membership. All you need to do is link your Amazon and Grubhub accounts by visiting this page and clicking “Activate Now.” From there, simply place your order on the Amazon app or website. If you’re already paying for Grubhub+, it’ll be canceled and your new Amazon Prime-linked membership will start the day after the end of your original Grubhub+ billing cycle.

2. Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market

As for your next grocery haul, you can order through Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods Market and save on all of your staples. We’re talking up to 50% off grocery favorites through Amazon Fresh, Prime-exclusive deals, and in-store shopping, pickup, or same-day delivery at Whole Foods locations. If you have a Prime Visa credit card, you’ll also earn 5% cashback on groceries (more on that perk below!).

3. Unlimited Photo Storage

Most of the time, we think of Amazon for shopping discounts, but it can also serve as your personal storage center for photos and videos. You’ll get unlimited storage for full-resolution photos and 5GB of video storage through Amazon Photos.

4. Prime Visa Credit Card

With the Prime Visa credit card, you can earn 5% back when you make purchases through Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and Chase Travel, plus 2% back at gas stations, restaurants, and local transit and commuting (including rideshares like Uber and Lyft)—and 1% back on everything else. Once you’re approved for this credit card, you’ll receive a $200 Amazon gift card.

5. Amazon First Reads

Amazon has thousands of eBooks, magazines, and more that you can enjoy with your Prime membership. You’ll also be on the list for Amazon First Reads, which sends you monthly email updates on the latest titles and gives you access to a collection of new books one month before their release date. Each month, Prime members can also pick one free Kindle book and a free bonus short read.

6. Amazon Pharmacy

Amazon’s Prime Rx helps you compare prescription prices, which has saved members up to 80% off. Through RxPass, you can get eligible medications for $5 per month. And similar to your grocery or other items you need ASAP, Amazon Pharmacy will also send prescriptions to your door with free two-day shipping.

7. One Medical

One Medical is another Amazon Prime benefit, and for just $9 per month, it can link to your insurance and connects you to healthcare providers who are available to chat 24/7, helps you request refills and renewals on prescriptions, and more.

8. Amazon Baby Registry Welcome Box

If you’re pregnant, Amazon is here to support you. When you sign up for a baby registry through Prime, you’ll receive a free welcome box full of samples and full-size products parents and babies love (and need). You’ll also get a 15% completion discount, so you can snag each remaining item on your registry. This offer is valid from 60 days before your baby’s due date until 90 days after your baby’s arrival.

9. Prime Try Before You Buy

Amazon has quickly become everyone’s go-to for fashion, too. Through the Try Before You Buy Program, which was formerly known as Prime Wardrobe, Prime members can select up to six items to try on for seven days. After the week is up, keep what you want and send back anything you don’t with free, easy returns.
