Canines are so big-time at Bike Dog Brewing that they have their own Insta account (@dogsofbikedog). The founders combined humanity’s love for dogs, bikes, and good beer when creating this Sactown gathering space in 2013—so of course, it’s super popular. There’s gear, like bandanas and collars on-tap for furry guests; and several fundraising events, including a golf tournament, community rides, and Yappy Hours, to benefit groups like the local SPCA chapter and the Pit Bull Socialization and Obedience Crew.

From the moment you walk into Bigsby’s Folly—named after the owners’ first golden retriever—and see the giant dog stencil behind the bar, you can tell four-legged guests are held in high esteem. This urban winery walks the talk, too. From the pet toys on the patio to the chef-made treats to the on-site training classes, everything is designed to give back to the puppers that inspire the biz. Pick up a bottle of the Bigsby’s Biscuits; 100-percent of sales go to animal charities in the area.

A perfect dog day afternoon in Boise wouldn’t be complete without a stroll along the leafy Greenbelt and ending at Payette Brewing, where the beer garden almost seems to double as a dog park and the merch section remains stocked with collars and leashes. Canines also make up part of the staff, which is probably why the brewery’s Yappy Hour events are so next-level with regional pet-product artisans and a vet on-hand to answer nagging questions.

Yet another reason to love the Central Coast’s rising wine regions? They love dogs! Jill Tweedie of Breakaway Tours leads private charters to pet-friendly wineries in Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara. The itineraries can be tweaked to your squad’s preferences to include dreamy stops like lunch among the vines (puppy snacks included), vineyard jeep excursions at Steinbeck Vineyards, a wine cave tour at Eberle Winery, and visiting vintners like Carivintas and Venteux that support pup charities. You’ll cover about four wineries in one day with hounds in tow—how pawsome is that?

Every week, this Arizona canine hotspot goes through 10,000 dog treats made in-house using spent grains from the brewery. Like all other O.H.S.O locations, the newest spot in Gilbert rolls out the red carpet for canines with its grassy play area and taps-turned-water fountains. The four locales host a collective 100 benefits throughout the year with 20-percent of proceeds going toward local rescues; as well as social events, like a Halloween hounds costume contest and pictures with Santa.

Plenty of high-profile wineries bill themselves as pet-friendly, but few deliver like Mutt Lynch. Staffers may pull sweet stunts like setting up a “treat pairing” for your pooch, but none of it feels gimmicky or forced. It’s just pure affection and zero pretense here. Every bottle—including the award-winning petite sirahs and chardonnays—celebrate hound-life either through direct donations to charities or in spirit with its mutty names and labels.

West Seattle Brewing’s outpost on Alki Beach was made with furry friends in mind. Dog guests, which aren’t allowed on the actual beach, get their fill of digging fun in the sanded sitting area lined with Adirondack chairs. Paw-rents enjoy people-watching and kicking back with a pint and a (pizza) pie.

Founded in honor of the original homeowner Major Hugh Fraser—who planted the first grapes and was president of the local SPCA chapter—Okanagan Valley’s See Ya Later Ranch already stands out for its superlative-sized plot of Gewürztraminer, but it’s the heritage and dog hospitality that steals hearts.  All 12 of Fraser’s canine ranch companions are featured on wine labels. Explore the grounds, then take your pooch into the tasting room—housed in the original 1900s stone home—or let your fluffy friend hang in the Barking Lot play area.

Avery Brewing’s Ellie’s Brown Ale may just be one of Colorado’s favorite beers, proving that the best things are made with love. The owner’s chocolate lab inspired the crowd-pleaser, which has been on rotation since the brewery’s 1990s beginnings. The puppy love continues on the patio, which is conveniently located next to an off-leash park with a small lake.

A pioneer in Washington’s burgeoning wine scene, Brian Carter helped launch several wineries before planting his own brand in the late nineties. He still makes some of the best vinos around, and fortunately for dog lovers, he has a soft spot for tailwaggers too.
