There’s nothing better than cozying up with a good book. These fall book recommendations have something for every genre or mood.

Any time of the year is the perfect time to read a book, but fall especially feels like the best moment since it’s all about coziness. The weather is a little crisper so you might be spending more time indoors. And while a Netflix binge is always an option for enjoying an afternoon at home (ensconced in blankets and pillows and with a warm beverage at hand), you can also switch things up and grab a book to get lost in.

I don’t know about you, but I get most of my book recommendations through word of mouth these days. I’ll ask friends for their recent favorite reads or all-time classics and yes, I might even look at #BookTok for inspiration. I find those two sources are always helpful when I’m trying to find a book that suits my mood—whether I’m looking for a serious non-fiction read, light-hearted fiction option, or juicy tell-all autobiography.

But when compiling my TBR (To Be Read) list for fall, I was more in the mood for finding out what the best and buzziest new releases are. You know, the books that everyone is going to be talking about at dinner parties and brunches this season—sometimes you just want to be a part of the conversation, right?

So, I asked the experts at Goodreads to share the most-read books of the season. The list they sent over is based on how many Goodreads members added a book to their want-to-read shelf.
