Costco Is Opening 9 New Stores in 2025—and 2 of Them Are in California
The retailer is expanding worldwide this year.

Some lucky California residents will soon get a shiny new Costco in their backyard. The company just announced that they’re opening nine new stores this year, and two of them are in California—one in Brentwood in the Bay Area and the other in Highland in San Bernardino County. Both are set to open in March 2025.
Any new Costco is a welcome sight—who doesn’t like heading to their local warehouse store for savings on bulk items, affordable (and iconic) rotisserie chicken, hot dogs and pizza at the food court, and free samples? The new locations will be very convenient for residents nearby. In particular, we can’t help but predict that the Highland Costco will be extra helpful for visitors on their way to Lake Arrowhead, Running Springs, and Big Bear.
If you live near these cities, it’s time to get out your Costco card, or get ready to apply for one. Right now, a Gold Star Membership is $65 a year, which includes the ability to shop online and in-store and two membership cards. An Executive Membership costs $130 a year and includes an annual 2% reward, discounts on select Costco services, the ability to shop online and in stores, and two membership cards.
In addition to those two new California stores, Costco will be opening new locations in Genesee County, Michigan; Prosper, Texas; Sharon, Massachusetts; and Weatherford, Texas in March 2025; plus stores in Stuart, Florida, and Minami Alps, Japan in April 2025. There’s also one opening in Ardeer, Australia sometime in 2025.
And these stores aren’t the only openings for the year—the company announced in a December 2024 earnings call that it plans to open 29 new locations in 2025, 10 of which will be outside of the United States.
