Venice’s Kitschy-Cool House of Novogratz Is a One-Stop Boho Bungalow Pop-Up
With their latest pop-up shop on Abbot Kinney, the design duo leans into their retro-cool aesthetic.
There’s a new design destination on Abbot Kinney in Venice, and the pink storefront might stop you in your tracks. The Novogratz, the husband/wife creative duo that’s as famous for their family of seven talented kids as they are for their vintage-inspired aesthetic, opened a pop-up store that’s as irreverent as you’d expect it to be.
Cortney and Robert Novogratz got their start in the real estate business in Manhattan, renovating and flipping properties, and transitioned to home decor 25 years ago. Thanks to a few design books, two home-design reality shows, and trendy hotel design projects, they’ve since become powerhouses in the industry. One of their more current projects, Hotel Dylan, a former truck stop in Woodstock, NY, is a great example of their aesthetic—a little kitschy, very Boho, and not too precious.
In their new Venice shop, decorative wallpapers, neon lights, and posters cover the walls, changing the ambience of each room as you move through the shop. Styled with elaborate floral arrangements and layered rugs, the House of Novogratz bungalow is both a shop and a showroom for their outdoor furniture and contemporary designs with thrift store flair.
In collaboration with Sarah Jessica Parker, the Novogratz SJP collection modernizes retro designs for outdoor furniture, bringing back scalloped umbrellas, striped woven chairs, and pastel chaise lounges. Cortney says of the collection, “We are not afraid of color, we embrace and promote it in an energetic way,” and the furniture shows it. Novogratz xo SJP Collection features both neons and pastels for fun pops of color throughout your home and backyard.
If you can’t get to the store in person, the entire collection is available online at Shop the Novogratz.
