Pantone is back with their Color of the Year for 2021––but this time they’ve chosen two. Say sayonara to 2020’s blue hue and hello to Ultimate Gray (PANTONE 17-5104) and Illuminating (PANTONE 13-0647).

According to Pantone’s press release, the colors were chosen to convey a message of resilience, strength, and optimism during a time that can feel so uncertain. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute describes the shade combination as: “Practical and rock-solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a color combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted; this is essential to the human spirit.”
