HK Associates

HK ASSOCIATES is the Tucson, Arizona-based architecture practice of husband and wife team Kathy Hancox and Michael Kothke.

Originally from Canada, Kathy and Michael’s expertise is built upon a lineage that runs through internationally renowned architecture firms in Vancouver, British Columbia and San Francisco, California. In 2003, an opportunity to work together with Rick Joy brought them to Arizona where they fell in love with the desert, later establishing HK ASSOCIATES.

Our focus is centered around a comprehensive approach that includes the design of architecture, interiors, and landscape.

We work closely with our clients to understand their specific needs and aspirations. From this, we develop a thoughtful and deliberate design that integrates interior and exterior living spaces.

Our process includes crafting detailed drawings and immersive 3D renderings and video walkthroughs to help our clients visualize the design, and to align details with aspirations.

We stay involved every step of the way. During construction, our involvement is a key component of the collaboration where design intentions meet the skills and perspectives of talented builders and craftspeople, and where ideas become reality.
