IKEA’s 2026 Color of the Year Pick Says No to Boring Beige

Looking at the shades chosen for other major colors of the year, it’s an array of natural colors and earthy tones. However, IKEA is opposing the somewhat neutral picks with their aptly-named, newly-announced 2026 Color of the Year: Rebel Pink.

The hue is a playful pink shade that is meant to add a punch of fun and energy to interior decorating and providing a rose-tinted view of the coming year. To celebrate the color and its meaning, IKEA has announced their 33-piece GREJSIMOJS collection.

The Swedish word “grejsimojs” translates to the colloquial term for “thingamajig,” a fitting name for a collection celebrating childlike wonder, play, and whimsy. IKEA cites their Play Report as the inspiration for the intention of the collection.
“Our Play report showed us that children and parents want more play and playfulness in their lives and in their homes. We also know that play brings us together and is nature’s most powerful way of creating lifelong learning. That is why we developed GREJSIMOJS,” says Maria Törn, Range Area Manager for Children’s IKEA, IKEA of Sweden AB in a press release. “We know that there is a lot of pressure on parents today and we do not want to put another must on them but rather encourage play to become a natural part of the home.”
