Move Over Paint Colors, It’s Time for the Texture of the Year
2026 is all about lived-in charm.

You may have seen discourse online about the chosen colors of the year. But Etsy is bringing in a more physical aspect with their first-ever Texture of the Year. For 2026, Etsy has deemed washed linen to be the “it” texture.
The choice of washed linen shows a shift from luxe and lacquered finishes to more natural materials. According to Etsy, searches for linen clothing have increased by a staggering 1,200%. Textures are crucial in adding character and life to a space, and washed linen does just that.
Washed linen is effortless, tactile, and cool. The texture is symbolic of a softness developed over time and adds a homely, unpretentious vibe to decor.
To go with the intent of lived-in charm, Etsy has also announced their color of the year: Patina Blue. The color is inspired by the natural aging process of copper, with exposure causing the metallic bronze to develop a certain bluish-green appearance. Etsy says that searches for “blue copper” have increased by three times and the color “embodies the quiet magic of change and the ways materials evolve as they’re lived in and loved.”
In tandem with the texture of the year, Patina Blue is all about creating spaces that embrace wear and tear from use and love. The two show a rising interest in making decor feel cherished, heirloom, and timeless.
