There isn’t a corner of this remodeled Pacific Northwest island home, designed by the legendary Seattle architecture and interiors firm Hoedemaker Pfeiffer, that doesn’t whisper quiet luxury. We love how the firm masterminds idyllic family compounds, and this property is no exception. It’s a textural wonderland filled with rich velvet, nubby bouclé, honed marble, handmade oak cabinetry, and too many other exquisite details to list. Park us in front of this cozy fireplace and we’re never leaving.

Clara Jung of Banner Day Interiors doesn’t work exclusively with tight spaces, but we think the elegant San Francisco apartments and snug Bay Area homes she designs are where her strengths, including a playful sense of color, truly shine. Consider this bungalow and all its ingenious millwork, creating smart storage for a busy family seemingly out of thin air.

Holmberg relocated from the East Coast to Salt Lake City out of a desire to live somewhere more beautiful. And her embrace of the American West feels evident in the palette of rich, warm neutrals she embraces in many of her projects—like this four-season poolhouse in Park City with a full wall of rosy zellige tile. Holmberg’s strong eye for curvilinear shapes and bold, sculptural accents was born out of her fine art background and is evident in all her varied projects throughout Utah and further afield.

Chloe Redmond Warner, the principal designer of Redmond Aldrich Design, conjured a very specific character when she was ideating this Montana mountain home for a particularly game client. Her muse was a fictitious Japanese art student who somehow stumbled into the American Rockies and decided to call it home. The San Francisco-based designer is known for her wildly creative approach to luxurious interiors, infusing every project with wit and style.

Beyoncé and Gwyneth Paltrow are among Brigette Romanek’s loyal clientele, and it’s clear that they feel she is a kindred spirit with a deep understanding of stylish, comfortable living. Known for her eye for sculptural lines and museum-quality vintage pieces, Romanek also peppers her projects with whimsical touches like bold art and eye-catching color.

Orange County-based Denise Morrison has spent decades designing upscale retreats for clients around the country that hit the luxury button hard without feeling overly precious. So when it came time to break ground on her own family compound in Idaho, she was off to the races. The lake-view home has room for a crowd, with the perfect mix of deep, comfortable seating, high-end finishes, and low-key vacation energy.

Interiors by Amber Lewis have set the high bar for what we think of as quintessentially Californian: soft fabrics, organic materiality, cosseting seating, understated opulence, and uncluttered informality. The collective impression is modern, timeless, and—above all—comortable. This is how we want to live, and Amber Lewis is tapped into the zeitgeist and giving us what we need now more than ever.

Forget après-ski. If spending the day at this jaw-dropping Tahoe residence was an option, we’d skip the slopes altogether. The Saratoga, California-based designer embraces classic design with a contemporary spin, and she’s equally adept at creating urban and rural retreats and bringing a little urbane sophistication to mountain living.
