You’re bound to find some exciting discoveries on every trip to Aldi. Sure, the grocery store has your usual staples, but you’ll also find some intriguing snacks, sweets, cheeses, pastas, sauces, and more that you won’t find at other markets. And much like other cult-favorite grocery stores, loyal shoppers have strongly held opinions about their ride-or-die items.
If you’re a regular Aldi shopper you might be wondering how your tastes line up with other customers—are you missing out on any must-haves? Aldi just announced the results of their 2023 Fan Favorites Survey and not only are there plenty of gems on the list, but also the findings give us a look at the latest food and grocery trends.
One of the biggest takeaways from the survey was the huge effect TikTok food trends have on grocery store purchases. Cottage cheese and the “yogurt cluster” trend are all over #FoodTok right now, so it’s no surprise that Friendly Farms Cottage Cheese and Low Sugar Greek yogurt took the No. 1 spot in their respective categories. And to add to that, cottage cheese sales at Aldi have spiked more than 14%.

When it comes to other trending foods, avocados are the top produce pick and avocado oil won in the “Lighter Side” category. In surprising news, dairy is “in” even in the midst of a plethora of alternative milks and cheeses. Dairy took the top spot in five of 13 categories.
“Our loyal shoppers are always vocal about their love for ALDI products and over 70,000 of them sang praises in this year’s Fan Favorites survey,” said Scott Patton, Vice President of National Buying, in a press release. “Their feedback is invaluable, which is why we were excited to introduce new survey categories inspired by our fans’ interests, including ‘TikTok Made Me Buy It’ among others.”
