Sometimes, it seems like nothing’s going on in the hotel world, but right now we’ve got an embarrassment of riches. Along with keeping an eye on doings up north —both the Senza resort and the Brannan Cottage Inn, up in the Napa Valley, have had a little work done, which we talk about in the June issue—we’ve been tracking the reboot of Bernardus Lodge, down in Carmel Valley.

Still the same surrounded-by-vineyards location…

still the same star chef, Cal Stamenov, in its restaurant (renamed Lucia)…

but now the resort’s rooms have gone from tile-and-stucco Tuscan Revival to glam Hollywood Regency. Like what you see? It reopened on April 6—head on down.
