Astrology has been around for centuries, but it’s experienced something of a resurgence as of late, with tarot readers and crystal shops gaining cult followings on TikTok and Instagram. Beyond predicting how your month may look, your astrological sign can be used to predict your ideal partner, how to buy furniture for your apartment, and even what holiday cookie you should bake. So why not consider lining up your travels with your star sign, too? Here are some destinations in the West that we think are ideal based on your sign’s inherent qualities.

Capricorn (December 22 to January 20)

Disciplined, realistic, and family-oriented, Capricorns like yourself are natural leaders for a reason. There’s no doubt that you’re a hard worker, which is why you appreciate quality craftsmanship when you see it. You’ll want to visit a destination that values makers just as much as you do, like Portland, Oregon. Everyone from leather workers like Orox to shoe designers like Danner and jewelers like Betsy & Iya call this Pacific Northwest city home, and for good reason. Even their airport has a gift shop loaded with locally made jams, textiles, and artwork.

Aquarius (January 20 to February 18)

Aquarius signs are known for their progressive and original thinking. Sure, you can be a bit shy and quiet at times, but you can also be quirky and energetic. You like to have fun with friends, which means you’d dig a small, intimate group trip with Salt & Wind. This bespoke, sustainably minded travel company specializes in small, food-focused group trips to underrated, off-the-radar destinations like Hawai’i, Baja California, and more.

Pisces (February 19 to March 20)

Pisces are known to be imaginative, intuitive, and incredibly creative. Why not spend some time on a spiritual retreat tapping into that side of your sign? Head to the oh-so-chic boho surf town of Todos Santos to check out the Hotel San Cristobal or the newly revamped Rancho Pescadero. Their wellness treatments are top tier. Or, if you’re looking for something domestically, check out the outings with Field Trip Society in Washington. Their offerings include everything from introductory birding workshops outside Seattle to bookbinding classes at Grapheme.

Aries (March 21 to April 19)

Determination, confidence, and excellent organizational skills are just a few traits that define an Aries. This sign is a natural born leader when it comes to travel. That means you can handle a more difficult itinerary with multiple locations, like a road trip up the California coast on the iconic Highway 1. Why not try doing it in an e-vehicle while you’re at it? We did, and although it took a little bit of planning, it was well worth it.

Taurus (April 20 to May 20)

Reliable and practical, yes, but a Taurus like yourself also likes to be surrounded by love and beauty. Not to worry—these attributes aren’t mutually exclusive. You who put great value in touch and taste would do very well in a culinary destination like the Santa Ynez Valley. With great wine, beautiful landscapes, excellent restaurants, and stunning hikes, the SYV is sure to be your happy place.

Gemini (May 21 to June 21)

Geminis like having options. Some call it indecisiveness, others call it being curious. This leads you, as an air sign, to be less interested in classic, straightforward destinations and more into spots where you can have it all. Which is why you should definitely consider Jackson Hole your home base. Want some epic hiking or skiing in world-class national parks like Yellowstone or the Grand Tetons? Check. Rather hang out and explore the local food scene and sip on some craft cocktails? Got that! Into trying out via ferrata? Done and done. This Old West destination is everything but old school, and worth checking out any time of year.

Cancer (June 22 to July 22)

Cancers are sentimental people, which makes the beginning of a new year an especially nostalgic time. You care deeply for the people in your life, so a thoughtful, romantic trip to one of the West’s cozy inns is in order this year. Don’t have an S.O.? No worries. We’ve done solo overnights at Gaige House and can’t recommend it enough for a bit of onsen-style self reflection.

Leo (July 23 to August 22)

Creativity is at the core of any Leo. You have a sharp mind to achieve anything that you’re committed to accomplishing and a warm-hearted nature to keep you motivated and optimistic. This coming year, you’ll want to hit the road and head to one of the country’s creative capitals, Santa Fe. With spectacular sunsets and an art scene that embraces both indigenous creators as well as more contemporary greats like Georgia O’Keefe, there’s no better place to fuel your spark than this Southwestern city.

Virgo (August 23 to September 22)

You take a methodological approach to tasks in life. While some people gloss over minor details, Virgos pay attention to even the smallest ones. Your tried-and-true organizational skills will come in handy when planning a multi-city trip through the Pacific Northwest, taking you from Seattle to Vancouver on the new Cascades Amtrak line, which just relaunched at the end of 2022 after being put on hold during the pandemic. The bucket list-worthy train route makes daily trips from Portland through Seattle and up to Vancouver, giving you unending options to explore the lush greenery of the region.

Libra (September 23 to October 22)

As a social air sign, these autumn-born people love being surrounded by friends. Maybe this is the year you gather everyone and rent out an Airbnb for a ski trip to Mammoth Lakes? If you can’t make it out ’til shoulder season in the spring, even better. There are plenty of dog-friendly hiking trails to enjoy, meaning your four-legged friend won’t be left out of the loop. Not to mention all of the awesome mountain biking, trail running, and hot springs worth exploring, too.

Scorpio (October 23 to November 21)

Known as the most passionate astrological sign, Scorpios have a tendency toward deep conversations and need for authentic connection. There’s no tolerance for superficial fluff in this water sign’s life. You require a destination that matches your desire to connect to your own heart and to others, and there’s no better place to do that than the Alyeska Nordic Spa just outside Anchorage, Alaska. Located deep in the wilderness, there are 50,000 square feet of wellness facilities to explore, and not too far away back in town, surprisingly sophisticated dining and cultural options.

Sagittarius (November 22 to December 21)

Ask any Sagittarius for advice and they’ll come back with an optimistic, energetic response. You’re known as the generous one among your friends, although you do have a habit of promising more than you can deliver. (Blame it on your enthusiastic but impatient demeanor.) Why not visit a sunny spot that matches your disposition, like Los Angeles? With a world-class dining scene and great weather year-round, you can explore the surrounding Santa Monica mountains without ever having to worry about base layers.
