Heads up, West Coasters: There’s a new carrier coming to an airport near you

A new commercial airline is breaking onto the scene, offering flights among West Coast destinations like San Diego, Phoenix, Denver, and Las Vegas.

Based in Carlsbad, California Pacific Airlines promises competitive fares on its 50-seat nonstop flights, including $99 non-refundable fares between San Jose and Carlsbad, and will allow passengers a free checked bag along with their carry-on. As for in-flight refreshments, California Pacific promises complimentary snacks and drinks—a small but much appreciated luxury for the modern traveler.

California Pacific Airlines Chairman, Ted Vallas, says the company looks forward to offering a more convenient travel option among popular destinations, especially for residents of San Diego’s North County. “Our initial set of cities will address the needs of both business and leisure travelers from nearby McClellan–Palomar Airport,” said Vallas. “Passengers can spend less time fretting about the drive to and from the airport, and spend more time enjoying their destination.”

The company, which has roots as former charter airline SkyValue Airlines, operates a fleet of Embarer ERJ 145 aircrafts, designed to fly shorter distances at higher speeds. The inaugural flights will kick off on November 1 between Carlsbad and San Jose, and Carlsbad and Reno-Lake Tahoe, with more destinations being added later in the month—just in time for holiday travel.
