Sunset Test Garden: Window on the West

Make no mistake, we love our sustainability and creative reuse in the West, but at Sunset Magazine it's also got to look good. Enter the father/daughter duo of McKenna Landscape.

Make no mistake, we love our sustainability and creative reuse in the West, but at Sunset magazine it’s also got to look good. Enter the father/daughter duo of McKenna Landscape. They knocked our socks off at last year’s San Francisco Flower and Garden Show. So we invited them to do an install in our Menlo Park test garden.

Old window frames as trellising.

They KILLED it with their use of almost exclusively recycled materials. They used old windows to frame the room. Those with glass will act as a wind block. Those without? Trelling for a vine. They made their own furniture out of an ugly old arbor we had on site. Sunbrella fabric keeps it shady.

And we just love the circular rebar as a finishing touch.
