Mission Bowling Club

San Francisco, California

If someone opened a bowling alley with no stale popcorn, gas station lighting, or air hockey, would it still be a bowling alley? At the new Mission Bowling Club, the answer is a resounding “Heck, yeah!” In an old warehouse fitted with six lanes, a crowd that was in braces when they saw The Big Lebowski cheers, fist-pumps, and downs gin fizzes to keep the ol’ throwing arm loose. Executive chef Anthony Myint serves a serious burger topped with Monterey jack and caramelized onions, and the corn dog—fennel sausage dipped in cornmeal and hominy—is as perfect as knocking down a 7–10 split.
