A 1,200-foot green pinnacle punctuates this serene enclave, home to a botanical garden, burbling stream, and short path to the 'Iao Needle overlook. As peaceful as the rainforest seems now, this was the site of a tremendous battle in 1790 when King Kamehameha conquered Maui.
