After decades of decline, canoe culture is cresting again.The ultimate canoe confab takes place each May in Lahaina, Maui, atthe International Festival of Canoes. During the two-week event,master builders from seven nations each carve a vessel in theirindigenous style. Attendees can help christen the new vessels atthe May 29, 2004, closing launch ceremony.
