Move over, Museum of Ice Cream. A new, oh-so-Instagrammable exhibit is coming to town
29Rooms, which has debuted in New York and L.A., brings together the media brand’s foci of tech, style, culture, and art in interactive installations dreamed up by creatives and collaborators from all over the globe.
The theme, “Turn It Into Art,” focuses on the power of creativity to influence emotions and act as an agent of change, which aligns well with the media company’s inclusive and innovative methods of storytelling and progressive, if unconventional, vision. Past collaborators have included brands like Adidas and stars like Jake Gyllenhaal, and have covered thought-provoking themes such as environmental threats, gender inclusivity, and women’s rights.
Though details haven’t yet been released on all of the 29Rooms coming to SF, two have been confirmed in the lineup. San Franciscans will have a chance to imitate art in Alexa Meade’s vibrant space, where they’ll become part of a 3D painting on the artist’s canvas walls. Visitors can also go for a multi-sensory ride in feminist photographer Maisie Cousins’ flower-filled room. Get your smartphone camera ready—the Instagram ops are endless.
The weekend-long festival will kick off Thursday, June 21, with three-hour sessions running from 11am to 10pm. Tickets start at $39, and portions of proceeds will support Refinery29’s non-profit partners.
