There Are So Many Wrong Ways to Shop Amazon’s October Prime Day. Here’s the Right Way to Do It
Our editors share the best deals to shop during the two-day event.
It seems like everything has a sequel these days, right? I guarantee you’ll like this one: Amazon is having a big sale from Oct. 11 at 12 a.m. to Oct. 12, calling it Prime Early Access Sale. But basically, many people are calling it Prime Day 2. In my opinion, it really doesn’t matter what we’re calling it, all you need to know is that there are going to be some great deals that you don’t want to miss out on. And with the holiday season coming up, it’s the perfect time to stock up on gifts and other holiday essentials you might need for hosting. Or, if you slept on some deals during Prime Day this summer, now is your chance to make up for it.
Prime members will be able to shop hundreds of thousands of deals on brands like KitchenAid, Samsung, iRobot, Ashley Furniture, Peloton, New Balance, and so much more. Amazon is also debuting a Top 100 list of “the season’s most popular and giftable items”—the retailer will be dropping new deals from that list throughout the 48-hour event.
To prep for the sale, Amazon suggests setting up personalized deal notifications by visiting the Prime Early Access Sale page to create deal alerts. You can also add products to your wish list, cart, or “Save for Later” list and set up your Alexa device to notify you of eligible deals on those items. As for our advice, we recommend making a shortlist or wishlist of sorts—what essentials do you need? Whom do you want to buy gifts for? Are there any big-ticket items that you’ve had your on eye for a while? Use that list to guide you while you’re shopping so you don’t go overboard and buy things you don’t need.
We know shopping any big Amazon sale event can be overwhelming because of the sheer number of deals available. So we made a list of our own editor recommendations to help you get started.
