In 2004, we worked with Michelle Kaufmann to build the Glidehouse: a modern, sustainable pre-fab home. The house was a hit at that year’s Celebration Weekend. To this day, I get questions from readers wondering what happened to it after the event. Now I know!
The house was designed by pioneering architect Michelle Kaufmann. A few years after the event, she partnered with Blu Homes, a leader in the pre-fab home arena (their homes are made right here in Northern California). The Glidehouse went with her to Blu. And now it’s back on display at Blu Home’s Silicon Valley Design Center in Redwood City, California!
Go see it this weekend at the Design Center–they’re having their grand opening Saturday and Sunday. While you’re there, try out Blu’s 3D Walkthrough, which uses Oculus Rift to virtually tour any home model that’s not on site. (Yes, it’s virtual reality for home design!)
