Short nap in the sun? Check. Amazing BLTs with the best summer tomatoes? Check. Huge show filled with incredible artisans and their wares? Check. This past weekend was pretty much perfect for me. Because when you’re a design junkie, there’s no better place to be than at Fort Mason Center with hundreds of artists and craftspeople, checking out their wares. I spent my Friday at the American Craft Council’s annual show and found lots worth breaking your piggy bank for. I can’t help you with your nap or summer sandwich, but I can share my favorite eye candy from the show.
I didn’t think succulents could get any cuter, but put them in a pot by Unurth and, yeah, they’re cuter.
My name is Joanna Linberg and I am addicted to indigo ceramics. These, by Len Carella Ceramics, caught my eye for the way they looked dipped in dye. Gorgeous.
Speaking of gorgeous ceramics, these are made by a young couple just a few years out of art school working under the name Lustered Walnut. The penciled lines are actually a glaze pen that looks like graphite but is sealed and dishwasher safe. I loved their entire collection.
Yes, I think it IS time to dress up light switches (and outlet covers, available on the Canoe Goods site) with leather. A white-washed color is coming soon for less contrast. I’ll take a dozen, please and thank you.
Dianne Nordt, the owner of Nordt Family Farms, weaves these merino wool blankets herself and uses only plant dyes. The colors are spectacular.
This is artist Lynne Meade‘s newest collection (you must check out the rest of her punched porcelain lighting, too). Pretty, practical, and she’s based in our soon-to-be hometown: Oakland.
Because everybody needs a pair of earrings modeled after potato chips. Rachel Shimpock‘s food-inspired collection is just plain fun.
