Forget the Barbie Dreamhouse—This Stunning Pink Ombré Home in L.A. Is Pure Design Eye-Candy
It also has the most stunning garden.

Perched above Los Angeles in the Mount Washington neighborhood is a home that rivals Barbie’s Dream House. The Spanish Revival home, owned and transformed by celebrity hairstylist Rob Talty, is truly a sight to behold with its ombré pink exterior and lush garden that’s a habitat for butterflies and hummingbirds. And did we mention that it was just put on the market?

The property has global influences and is described as inspired by “Casa Barragan and YSL’s Moroccan estate, Jardin Majorelle.” The two-bedroom, two-bathroom home was built in 1929 and features classic Spanish Revival architecture and original details—think arched doorways, a decorative fireplace, and wood-framed windows.

Inside, the kitchen pays homage to the home’s original architecture and design, while also staying updated for 21st century living with modern appliances, new lighting, and new faucet hardware. Both the breakfast area and dining area provide spectacular views of the San Gabriel mountains.

The primary bedroom is bathed in a sage hue and has French doors that lead to a patio with an outdoor fireplace, an amethyst wisteria-clad pergola, and the stunning backyard. The second bedroom also has access to the garden.

And while the interiors are beautifully decorated, the real star of the show is the exterior—the expansive garden and the striking pink walls.
“It’s really incredible the amount of birds and butterflies in the garden,” Talty says. “It’s a magical oasis, it doesn’t feel like you live in L.A. It’s so quiet and peaceful here. I feel so blessed that I’ve gotten to live here for as long as I have.”

The garden was a 15-year labor of love for Talty—it features tiered landscaping and pathways so one can leisurely wander around and explore. The garden was designed to have color year-round, with native and adapted plants.

“When I do hair I make it really sculptural and I love to have these moments of casualness and mistakes and what gives a photograph a feeling,” Talty explains. “And so I wanted to translate that to the garden, so I would choose plants that were going to be spectacular sculptures and then I would support them with other plants that would make those sculptures be the stars of the garden. So as you wander through it’s like an enchanted kind of journey that your eye travels through.”

In the garden is an upper patio with a lounge area, and there’s enough room for future owners to add a studio or water feature. The front of the house also has a patio with recently refinished tile.
The stunning home is on the market for $1.249 million and is represented by Joe Reichling and Courtney Pickard of the Bryant \ Reichling team at Compass. See the listing here.
