I’m delighted to introduce Rebecca Sams of Mosaic Gardens as our new guest blogger. We’ve been big fans of the gardens Rebecca creates with her husband, Buell Steelman, and have featured a number of them in Sunset over the years.

To give you a sneak peak of the magic to come, Rebecca agreed to share some images from her and Buell’s home garden.  Check out these before shots, and then scroll down to see how they transformed their narrow, sloped side yard into a lush oasis.  Isn’t it to die for?

(Please note: This garden was planted years before the current drought hit California and parts of Oregon. This would not be the year to plant a yard as lush as this one in many parts of the West, but let’s all just sit back and enjoy the images of this garden.)

And just when we thought this design-duo couldn’t get any more creative, Buell also builds these sculptural stone orbs. Buell sited the sculpture among the fruit trees of their backyard orchard.

We hope you’ll tune in to Rebecca’s upcoming posts!  We’re sure looking forward to getting some inside tips on how to create fabulous gardens.
