What can you do today to create a beautiful, water-wise garden next spring?  Find out at the Sunset/Save Our Water #PlantNow Twitter party on Oct. 4, from 12:30-1:00 p.m. PST.

Gardening experts Janet Sluis, a program developer with the Sunset Western Garden Collection, Sunset associate garden editor Johanna Silver, and Julie Saare-Edmonds, a California master gardener and water efficiency expert at the California Department of Water Resources, will answer questions and provide tips on fall planting.

You’ll get the answers to questions like: What (and when) should I plant in the fall? How much do I need to water in the winter? Can I plant container gardens in the fall? And more!

Never participated before? First, make sure you’re following us on Twitter. To track the conversation during the event, simply follow the hashtag #plantnow on Twitter (or follow the hashtag on TweetChat, which helps cut out other Twitter noise and automatically hashtags your own comments if you join in).

You are also welcome to tweet your own questions (make sure to include the @SunsetMag or @SaveOurWater handle and the #plantnow hashtag).  We’ll pick a few to ask our experts. AND you may be chosen to win a six-pack of water-wise plants or a free copy of the Western gardener’s Bible—the Sunset Western Garden Book.

So join the fun on Oct. 4 and learn the secrets of how planting in the fall can lead to a beautiful, water-wise garden in the spring.
