Innovative holders in the garden

Arne Reyier uses stakes to support plants and prop up fruit-laden branches in his Gig Harbor, Washington, garden.

To keep stakes close at hand, he devised containers resembling the quivers that hold arrows.

Reyier made the holders from lengths of 6- and 12-inch-diameter PVC pipe left over after a construction job. He drilled holes in the side of each pipe, then screwed them to a post sunk into the ground.
