Travel staffer Megan McCrea shares how duct tape can save your hike and your campout

Duct tape is a must have for worry-free camping or backpacking. It can help you repair just about anything including your hiking boots, tent, backpack, and even your air mattress or sleeping pad. You can also use duct tape to fend off critters like mosquitoes and flies–foot long strips work just like fly paper–or amp up your first-aid kit. Don’t want to carry the whole roll? Wind a few feet of tape around your water bottle or hiking stick so you always have some at hand if you want to pack it without the weight.
