Nearly every day, members of the San Diego Lawn Bowling Club get competitive on the close-cropped greens northwest of the Cabrillo Bridge. On Sundays it’s fun to watch the elegant bowlers all dressed in white, but you’ll have a greater appreciation for the game after taking a lesson. Call ahead to schedule one—or just show up and ask nicely.
